Girls Recreational Classes

The Legacy Recreational Gymnastics Program, for athletes ages 6-17, teaches the basic fundamentals and techniques of gymnastics (based on USA Gymnastics guidelines), including progressive basic skills, flexibility, muscle development, and dance basics needed to be successful on all four women’s gymnastics events (Vault, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and Floor Exercise). In addition, we also teach athletes emotional and mental preparedness, creating a well-rounded athlete.

 

Students showing exemplary gymnastics skills and emotional/mental readiness may move into specialized Recreational classes/teams which are by invitation only. These Specialized classes offer students an opportunity to be invited onto our Legacy Competitive Teams.

DIVISION 1

A 55 minute class that is designed for the beginner gymnast 6 years of age and up. Students learn basic gymnastic positions, progressive gymnastics skills, and emotional/mental techniques to create a sense of belief in themselves. Some examples of skills taught are Forward Rolls, Backward Rolls, Lever Handstands, Cartwheels, Bar Kickovers, Casting and Front Supports on Bars, Bridge Kickovers, Confident walking on Beams, Arabesques, jumps on beams, varieted handstands on low beams, and Fwd Rolls on a lower beam.

DIVISION 2

An Invitation Only 55 minute class that is designed for gymnasts 6 years of age and older that have been invited via their main coach. Students will show continued emotional/mental growth as well as strong listening and behavioral skills as well as possess specific gymnastics skills on all four of the Women’s Gymnastics events. Students being invited will receive a special certificate from their coach as their invitation into the class. Students must master all Div 1 skills. Some Required skills are the Uneven Bar Pullover, Casting, Cartwheel on both master and non-master leg, Levering Handstand Fwd Roll, Backward Pike Roll, Round Off, Bridge Kickover from the floor, and all Div 1 Skills on a Semi High Beam.

DIVISION 3

An Invitation Only 90 minute class that is designed for gymnasts 6 years of age and older that have been invited via their main coach. Students will show continued emotional/mental growth as well as exemplary listening and behavioral skills as well as possess specific gymnastics skills on all four of the Women’s Gymnastics events. Students being invited will receive a special certificate from their coach as their invitation into the class once they have mastered all Div 1 & 2 skill requirements. Some required skills are the Uneven Bar Pullover on a higher bar, Leg Cut/Leg Cut Reverse, Working Mill Circle with coach, Round Off Rebound, Back Bend Kickover on floor, and a Back Handspring with mats/ coach.

DIVISION 3 Class Registration

PRE-TEAM

An Invitation Only 2 hour class held twice weekly that is designed for gymnast 6 years of age or older that have been invited via their main coach with an high interest in competition and the Team track. Students being invited are required to do a personal evaluation with a PreTeam Evaluation Specialist. Once evaluated, she will receive a Certificate allowing her to enter this class. Some required skills are all Div 1-3 skills mastered. Uneven Bar skills to be done bars higher than their head and High Beams. Besides toning and perfecting all previously learned skills from div 1-3, students will also work on Mill Circles and Front Hip Circles on bars, Back walkovers and Back Handsprings on Floor, Cartwheels on Beam, and current level 3 vaulting, etc.

PURPLE TEAM

An invitation only 2 hour class held twice weekly. This class is designed for gymnasts that have been invited via their main coach with a high interest in competition team. Athletes in this class will be learning Level 2 Team skills. Students being invited are required to do a personal evaluation with a Pink & Purple Team evaluation specialist. Once evaluated, she will receive a certificate allowing her to enroll in this class.
